You may recall my previous posts in 2013 about on a series of florals titled "Offering." Today, I'm revisiting the concept with a looser, more abstracted painting technique on a larger canvas.

Every Sunday, our church displays fresh flower arrangements during worship. They remind me of the beauty of creation, and the frailty of life. After worship, the flowers are composed into smaller arrangements and delivered to people who are home-bound or in the hospital. They truly are an offering of love and grace.

Hope #1

2.5"x3.5" Oil on Board

ACEO

As a new member of The Arts Council of Williamson County, I'll be attending my first holiday event soon. At the event, members will be exchanging  ACEOs, "Artist Card Originals and Editions." They are 2.5" x 3.5" in size and are hand painted trading cards. For inspiration for my cards this year, I'm running with my abstracts based on Advent themes. Here is my first one of four paintings based on HOPE and the Advent color of blue.

Anthem

11"x14" Oil on Canvas

Commissioned

Happy New Year! Since it is the new year, I can now safely share some of my holiday commissions with you. This abstract was commissioned as a gift for a choral director. Simply titled "Anthem" I tried to convey all of the colors and textures one might find in a good choral presentation.

COMMISSIONED

Here is when 30 days of paintings comes in handy. A client wanted her ancestral home painted as a gift for her parents. The photo reference was a black and white photograph. Thankfully, I my previous painting experiences allowed me to interpret the subject in color.

Whew.

A Beautiful Gift

6"x6" Oil on Gessoed Panel
with Palette Knife
$50.00 + Shipping
SOLD

Today's image came from a photograph by the talented Cheryl M. Stewart. We were in an art show together and I saw this image she captured of redbud trees on the Natchez Trace Parkway. I told her how much I would love to paint that scene. She gave me a small print from which to paint. It was a beautiful gift, but not nearly as beautiful as the gift of that sunny morning on the Natchez Trace. Every day is a beautiful gift for us to appreciate and share.
